Mary Elizabeth Howard stands as our most active spirit. Tragically, she passed away in 1836, shortly after giving birth. She held the title of the lady of the house, as her husband, Sheriff Steven Howard, oversaw the construction of the empire section. While exploring McRaven, you might catch a glimpse of Mary Elizabeth.  

2. Andrew Glass  

Andrew Glass, a renowned highwayman, is believed to have constructed McRaven, potentially using it as a secret refuge. He terrorized travelers on the Natchez Trace and dedicated two rooms at McRaven for tallying his ill-gotten gains. Remarkably, these rooms remain nearly unchanged from two centuries ago. The spirit of Glass is still present at McRaven, but a visit is only for the fearless.  

3. John Bobb  

John Bobb, the mastermind behind McRaven's grand Greek Parlor and Main Suite, endured the Vicksburg Siege within its walls. Tragically, a year later, he met his demise at the hands of Union troops. Join us to uncover the narrative of this distinguished businessman and the tragic circumstances surrounding his murder, including the lingering presence of his spirit, often seen strolling the balcony.
